Writing an Artist’s Statement

== The Project ==
The assignment for this project was to (Write 2 or 3 sentences to describe how you understood the assignment, and what it made you think about.) __the assignment was to take a piece of soap stone and carve out a design by sanding chipping away the stone. draw a pattern on the stone and go by that when carving then add baby oil to make it shiney. __
== My Process ==
Before I started on this art project I had to (Describe what you did before you started actually making the art.)__before I started I planned to make an arrow head and drew it out in the soap stone.
_____ Then I had to (Describe how you planned the artwork.)_____slowly carve the outline of the arrow head and keep it proportional

The steps in making this work of art that were most important to me were (Describe what was important to you and why.)__the most important part was to make sure I didn’t go too far and over carve the arrow and keep it the same as my drawing ________
One part of the process that was a little difficult for me was (What did you struggle with, and why? How did you overcome any difficulties ___I had a hard time holding the stone wile chipping away and sanding it so I put the sander in the table and moved the stone across it _______
== The Theme ==
My sculpture/drawing represents (What does it show? What is the main theme? Why is this theme interesting or important to you?) Write 3 or 4 sentences._____ my theme was arrow because e my dad takes me shooting every summer and I love it so I wanted to make my own arrow to have as a necklace.
== Conclusion ==
I really (enjoyed/did not enjoy) doing this project. Explain why in 2 or 3 sentences.)_________i enjoyed working with soapstone I never have and it was an interesting material to work with because it’s a rock but its so easy to carve away and I was having fun with my table partners seeing who could get the biggest pile of dust from their stone in one class block. ________________I want to improve on (Describe what you might do better next time.)__________i would have liked getting a little more detail into my carving and making it thinner.___________________
