Writing an Artist’s Statement
Directions: Based on your finished project, finish the sentences below using complete sentences and appropriate art vocabulary (i.e.: elements and principles of art). Please write legibly and complete all parts of each section.
== The Project ==
The assignment for this project was to (Write 2 or 3 sentences to describe how you understood the assignment, and what it made you think about.) _______the assignment wast to make an abstract clay sculpture and to paint it to make it look completely different from the original object ___________
== My Process ==
Before I started on this art project I had to (Describe what you did before you started actually making the art.)_____________________
I took a blob of clay and made it look like a cloud to represent the water underneath the dolphin. Then I made the tale into a heart and the find into squares and the eyes in to big circles then I took the mouth and turned into a long coiled piece of clay ________________________________________________________ Then I had to (Describe how you planned the artwork.)______to plan this piece I made all of my pieces then just threw them together to make the sculpture and make it look even more abstract ______
The steps in making this work of art that were most important to me were (Describe what was important to you and why.)______________
________________the most inmportant part of the artwork to me was making it look toatally weird and doing nothing close to my original idea_______________________
One part of the process that was a little difficult for me was (What did you struggle with, and why? How did you overcome any difficulties_____ my difficulties where getting all of the boxes to stand on top of each other and getting the paint brush in to the deep corners of the sculpture. Another difficulty was making the heart the right shape
== The Theme ==
My sculpture/drawing represents (What does it show? What is the main theme? Why is this theme interesting or important to you?) Write 3 or 4 sentences.________ my theme was dolphins and water. I am a diver and I love being in the water so I chose a dolphin because they are my favorite water animal. _______________
== Conclusion ==
I really (enjoyed/did not enjoy) doing this project. Explain why in 2 or 3 sentences.)__ I enjoyed making i look completely different from what you might expect and painting it to be even more abstract.it was fun because it lets you do whatever you want to do and have it still be a dolphin or whatever object you chose_________________________ I want to improve on (Describe what you might do better next time.)________________i would definitely spend more time making the shapes absolutely perfect and not having the little ripples in them. ___________________
